Ensembles

Members of The Raider Band Program experience a positive and high-intensity environment. Through integrity and pride, Raider Band members can expect to create lifelong friendships.

There is a place for everyone in The North Garland Raider Band Program.

Raider Marching Band

Comprising of all members of the North Garland High School Band Program, The Raider Marching Band is the largest ensemble in the program. The Raider Band performs at all North Garland High School varsity football games, pep rallies, marching band contests, exhibitions, and other events.

Concert Bands

There are four large concert band ensembles in the North Garland Band Program – Wind Ensemble, Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, and Concert Band.

Instrumentalists will be placed in one of these concert ensembles by audition. Each concert ensemble is a yearlong appointment. In addition to the audition, other factors such as a student’s participation in the All-State process, Solo and Ensemble, and general character are all considered when placing students in the proper performance ensemble.

Jazz Ensemble

Jazz Ensemble is an opportunity for students to learn and perform the many different genres that make up Jazz. Typically, rehearsals after school and include members who play saxophone, trombone, trumpet, piano, bass, guitar, and drum set. The Jazz Ensemble performs at many different functions including The Collin Jazz Festival, the TCU Jazz Festival, and school functions.

The Jazz Ensemble is taught by Mr. Taylor.

Percussion Ensemble

New to the 2023-2024 school year. The Percussion Ensemble represents a unique opportunity for percussion students to perform highly intricate and challenging music not typically found in their standard band classes.

Color Guard

The Color Guard Program is an integral component of The Raider Band Program. Instead of instruments, they perform with flags, rifles, sabres, and other equipment or props along with traditional and modern dance and choreography. In the Fall Semester, the Color Guard performs as an visual component of The Raider Marching Band and performs at all pep rallies, games, competitions, and other events as the other band members. In the Spring Semester, the Color Guard or ‘Winter Guard’ performs in their own capacity indoors and competes in local competition circuits in North Texas.
